SHAH ALAM - Tourism, Arts, and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King has called upon Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor to exercise caution in his words and avoid making insensitive comments that could harm tourism development.

Tiong reminded Sanusi to be mindful of the potential impact of his statements on the tourism industry, emphasising that such remarks could discourage tourists from visiting Kedah.

"If he (Sanusi) still wants to pursue political agendas, that is his prerogative.

"However, if he is genuinely committed to attracting more tourists to Kedah, he should be more prudent in his speech," Tiong told reporters following a meeting with the Melaka government regarding the organisation of the World Tourism Day (WTD) and World Tourism Conference (WTC) 2025 mega-events in Putrajaya.

The verbal exchange between the two politicians escalated last week during the Kedah State Assembly session.

Sanusi made a derogatory remark about King's physique, likening him to a pot-bellied deity worshipped by non-Muslims.
