PETALING JAYA - The body of six-year-old Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, who went missing on Tuesday, was found near his home in Damansara Damai yesterday evening.

Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakhruddin Abdul Hamid confirmed the discovery, stating that the body was located around 10pm after a comprehensive search involving police, fire and rescue personnel, K-9 units, and members of the public defense department.

"Despite scouring the area on Tuesday, we were unfortunately unable to locate Zayn.

"The search resumed at 11am on Wednesday but was hampered by heavy rain.

"Although combined efforts continued until 4pm, no significant progress was made," Fakhruddin said.

"The body was discovered by residents participating in the search and rescue operation near an area with water flow close to his residential area.

"While the investigation is now considered closed, we are focusing on determining how the body arrived at this location after Tuesday's search," he added.

Fakhruddin acknowledged the possibility of heavy rain influencing water flow in the area, potentially impacting the initial search efforts.
