Man arrested for indecent act on MRT
KUALA LUMPUR - Police have apprehended a 31-year-old man who exposed himself to a woman on the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) on Dec 5. The incident occurred on a train travelling between Kepong Baru Station and Metro Prima Station.
Sentul district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari confirmed the arrest, which took place on Monday night in Bandar Sungai Long Kajang.
"A 22-year-old woman filed a report about the indecent act on Dec 5 at 9.32pm.
"Initial investigations revealed that the suspect exposed himself to the victim while inside the carriage," Sukarno said in a statement today.
The suspect confessed to the act during questioning. He has no prior criminal record.
The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code (insulting modesty) and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 (indecent behaviour).
