SHAH ALAM - Police have summoned former Community Communications Department (J-Kom) director-general Datuk Dr Mohammad Agus Yusoff to appear at Bukit Aman, Kuala Lumpur at 10am tomorrow (Thursday).

It is understood that he has been called to provide his statement regarding allegations of sexual harassment reported to have occurred in Bintulu, Sarawak, in October.

The matter has been confirmed by a source close to the former lecturer.

Agus is expected to be accompanied by his lawyer.

The source also said the allegation of sexual harassment linked to Agus was related to a police report lodged by the department’s former assistant officer Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jilani, 33, at the Kajang police station.

"Yes, it's true. Agus has been asked to appear at the Bukit Aman Headquarters at 10am tomorrow to provide his statement regarding the allegations of sexual harassment against Wahab in Bintulu, previously.

"As of now, I am unsure about the progress of the case's investigation. However, he will be accompanied by his lawyer to provide a statement to the investigating officer.

"Whether he will be remanded after that depends on the needs of the police's investigation," said the source, who declined to be named, today.

Previously, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain confirmed that the police were investigating allegations of sexual harassment involving Agus against Wahab, believed to have occurred at a hotel in Bintulu on Oct 21.

He said police had launched an investigation under Section 354 of the Penal Code for sexual harassment and Section 377D for outraging the modesty of a person.

Razarudin said Wahab came forward to lodge a police report to protect himself and denied involvement in a conspiracy to defame or fabricate stories against Agus.

Previously, Agus resigned as J-Kom director-general, claiming to have received political pressure from certain parties.

Following his resignation, a video recording of a lewd conversation between him and Wahab circulated on various social media platforms.

Subsequently, the duo held a special press conference on Oct 17, claiming that the leaked conversation on social media had been doctored.

Wahab alleged that he was instructed by an individual known as Mr H to record his conversation with Agus.

Agus later said the identity of Mr H was disclosed to the police when he provided his statement at the Kajang District Police Headquarters.

Meanwhile, Agus when contacted by Sinar said he had entrusted his lawyer to handle the case.

He also explained that he had just returned from a vacation in Indonesia yesterday and was not feeling well.

“I don't want to confirm anything. I have left it to my lawyer to deal with the police tomorrow.

"I just returned from Indonesia yesterday and I'm still not feeling well," he said in a brief response.
