SHAH ALAM - A former flight attendant revealed the existence of a syndicate that rummages through bags and steals belongings from passengers on planes.

TikTok user Atif Zul said, it often occurred especially in flights from China and Hong Kong.

"Previously there used to be a special announcement involving these flights in which we were told to report if there were any suspicious activities.

"So, this is a very common issue on long haul flights," he said in a video uploaded on Wednesday.

He added that branded bags were also targeted by the syndicate in addition to advising passengers not to keep large amounts of money in their carry on luggage or bags.

"In reality this is a fact that if you carry a branded bag, especially if there is cash in it, it shows a person's luxury. Indirectly it will get the attention of the syndicate.

"My suggestion, put your bag opposite the seat so that you can clearly see if people are rummaging around.

"If you put it in the space above your head, you won't know if someone is trying to rummage through the bag or do something," he said.
