KUALA LUMPUR - Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong together with his Deputy, Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad paid their first official visit to the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) Headquarters here, on Monday.

During the visit, Steven also delivered a message to the senior leadership committee of HRD Corp so that together they can strengthen the nation's human capital development agenda.

"The minister also emphasised the importance of agencies such as HRD Corp to improve skills and look after the welfare of employees.

"He also talked about strengthening the success of HRD Corp's programs and initiatives through joint ventures with strategic partners at the domestic and international levels," according to HRD Corp's statement on Monday.

This visit is a continuation of Steven's series of visits to agencies under the Ministry of Human Resources immediately after his appointment as the minister on 12 Dec 2023.

During the visit, Steven also visited the customer service counter and several important departments at HRD Corp.

According to the statement, Steven and Abdul Rahman also received a brief briefing on HRD Corp's functions, initiatives and achievements throughout the year 2023.

"HRD Corp also shared the agency's highest record for levy collection, amounting to RM2.2 billion, claim payments of RM1.4 billion, training places of 2.1 million and registered employers of 90,000 with a total of 5 million employees," he said..

Earlier, the arrival of Steven and Abdul Rahman was welcomed by Chief Executive Datuk Wira Shahul Dawood.
