CAIRO - Hamas fighters released a short video on Monday showing three elderly Israeli hostages who are still alive despite Israel declaring them as dead.

The three men have been held hostage for more than 10 weeks along with about 240 others since Oct 7.

They were identified as Chaim Peri, 79, Yoram Metzger, 80, and Amiram Cooper, 84.

The three men were seen sitting side by side in the video posted by Hamas on the Telegram platform.

In the video, Peri said that he and other elderly hostages had health problems.

He pleaded for Israel to get an unconditional release for them.

Israel and Hamas agreed to a week-long ceasefire in late November that included the release of more than 100 hostages in Gaza in exchange for 240 Palestinian women and teenagers from Israeli prisons.

Some of the hostages who remained in Gaza were declared dead by Israeli authorities. - AWANI
