Cybercrime in Russia surges by 30.8 per cent in first 11 months of the year

MOSCOW - Amount of cybercrime cases in Russia over the first 11 months of the year grew by 30.8 per cent, compared to the same period in 2022, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said on Thursday.

"There is an upward tendency in the number of cybercrime cases committed via information and telecommunications technologies. Their amount has increased by 30.8 per cent compared to January-November of 2022," the ministry said.

Meanwhile, the ministry says the number of crimes using electronic payment facilities shrank by 56.4 per cent over the same period.

Overall, the amount of reported crimes in Russia dropped by 1 per cent year-on-year over the observed period, the ministry added. - BERNAMA-SPUTNIK
