ISKANDAR PUTERI - A 54-year-old man pleaded not guilty in the Johor Bahru Sessions Court yesterday to the charge of raping his stepdaughter since the victim was 12-years-old.

Iskandar Puteri district police chief Assistant Commissioner Rahmat Ariffin said that the man was arrested when he surrendered at the Iskandar Puteri district police headquarters before being charged in court.

"The suspect was charged in the Johor Bahru Sessions Court yesterday (Thursday) for offence 376 (3) of the Penal Code (rape).

"However, the accused has pleaded not guilty and has been offered bail of RM15,000 with one surety.

“The court granted bail to the accused and the case will be up for mention at the Johor Bahru Sessions Court on Jan 23, next year,” he said in the statement, today.

The incident reportedly occurred in August at a home in Horizon Hills involving a victim who was 18 years and five months old.

However, the victim only filed a police report on November 24, 2023, at Iskandar Puteri district police headquarters.
