SHAH ALAM - The Prime Minister's Senior Political Secretary Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin urges the authorities to investigate former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

He said influential individuals with the title 'Tun' needed to explain the source and acquisition of their properties.

He said those with titles should not escape being investigated by the authorities.

"If he (Dr Mahathir) wants all Tuns to be investigated, we can investigate him and his children first.

"We also need to re-investigate the cases of misappropriation of funds and losses of Perwaja Steel, the Bakun hydroelectric project, MISC Berhad, PKFZ, Maminco as well as cases involving its children such as Kenchana Petroleum.

"The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) needs to start an investigation into the people who have the title of Tun," he said in a post on X on Wednesday.

It was reported that Dr Mahathir agreed that those who hold the rank of 'Tun' should also be investigated if they could not explain in detail how they acquired their wealth.

He said that if the individual failed to make an explanation, their assets must be confiscated.

He added that obtaining documentary evidence on their misconduct was not required, and mere suspicion was not enough.

Meanwhile, Iskandar said every individual who carried the title was not above the law.

"No one is above the law. I am sure Tun is brave enough to be investigated," he said.
