SHAH ALAM - A tragic incident unfolded in Kota Kemuning when a man was found dead with his neck wedged in the entrance of a bank's automatic teller machine (ATM) room.

Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim confirmed the incident, stating that police received a call at 7.29am regarding an unconscious man lying near the bank's ATM.

"CCTV footage revealed the man, believed to be intoxicated, entering the ATM room at 11.48pm.

"Shortly after midnight, at 12:01am, the ATM room's automatic shutter door closed, tragically pinning the man's neck as it briefly locked before reopening at 6am," Iqbal explained in a statement today.

He said the victim was confirmed dead at the scene by the Tuanku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) Medical Assistant.

"The investigation found that the victim was estimated to be in his 50s to 60s and did not have any identification documents," he said.

According to him, the investigation found that there was no criminal element in this case, and the case was classified as a sudden death.
