SHAH ALAM - The Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) has introduced a new ground uniform for its ground-handling arm, AeroDarat Services (ADS).

In a statement on its subsidiary Malaysia Airlines' website, MAG said this symbolised a significant step as it embraced modernity into its design, while maintaining tributes to Malaysia’s cultural roots.

The unveiling of the new uniform took place during a launching event held at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 which was graced by Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin.

The launching event was conducted in collaboration with Habib Jewels and TudungPeople, highlighting MAG’s commitment to support and empower local talents and brands.

MAG group managing director Datuk Captain Izham Ismail said the launching of the new uniform was also to celebrate its internal talents who were also the designers of the uniform.

"The new ADS ground uniform symbolises our commitment to professionalism and equality, while also appreciating Malaysia's vibrance and culture with the inclusion of the songket motif embedded in the design.

"It is also a celebration of our internal talents, as the uniform was specially designed by the creative young minds in MAG, encapsulating the unity and creativity that will propel our organisation forward.

"While we know change is an inevitable part of our progress, what remains unwavering is our commitment to delivering the unique essence of Malaysian Hospitality.

"This is deeply engrained in our DNA and into every facet of our operations, ensuring that our guests continue to experience the familiarity and warmth that defines our brand," he said in the statement.

According to the statement, the newly introduced ground uniform was a combination of style and practicality with a focus of diversity and made with breathable and easy-to-care fabric, prioritising comfort and convenience.

The collection encompassed a tailored three-piece suit, with skirt or trouser options for women and the light blazer offered versatility allowing easy removal while retaining a professional appearance.

This was to suit ADS’ role in serving a range of aviation services for all airlines under MAG, as well as foreign carriers flying into domestic airports in Malaysia and to enable them to carry out their duties with confidence, pride and warm hospitality, shaping the experience of guests at the airport.

MAG did not only introduce the new uniform, but also the first ground staff handbag and clutch made from the old kebaya uniforms.

This significant decision was to celebrate the company's historical past while also demonstrating the group's dedication to implementing sustainable practices into its daily operations.
