KUALA LUMPUR - Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has strongly refuted allegations circulating on social media about protecting individuals or businesses involved in wrongdoing.

The claims stemmed from a viral post on the X application alleging a Vietnamese woman running a restaurant in violation of her Dependent Pass terms, while claiming to have connections with DBKL officials that shielded her business.

In a statement issued Wednesday, DBKL stressed its commitment to upholding the law and ensuring equal enforcement against all parties, regardless of any perceived relationships or influence.

"DBKL does not protect any individual, group, or organization involved in illegal activities.

"The claim that certain parties have a 'good relationship' with DBKL and enjoy immunity from enforcement actions is categorically untrue," the statement read.

The statement further clarified that Dependent Pass is solely intended for foreign family members of individuals legally employed in Malaysia.

Engaging in commercial activities outside the permitted scope of the visa constitutes a violation, and any such instances will be addressed through the established legal framework.
