SHAH ALAM - Bersih says that a meeting will be held tonight to finalise the decision on the street protest to push for government reform.

Bersih Chairman Muhammad Faisal Abdul Aziz said that the planned Bersih Assembly – whether it would be held or not – was intended to urge the government to implement a comprehensive reform agenda.

He said all further details would be announced tomorrow and the focus would be on the reform agenda, primarily for the benefit of the people.

"We, at Bersih, are looking forward, focusing on institutional and democratic reforms, as well as the development of the people and the country.

"All announcements and details about the assembly, whether it will take place or not, will be announced in a media briefing tomorrow," Faisal said when contacted by Sinar Daily today.

He emphasised that the crucial aspect was that Bersih would push the government to reform aiming for the development of the people.

The electoral watchdog believed that the focus on reform and the people's agenda was the main core of restructuring the state to create a democratic nation.

Regarding civil society participation in the planned assembly, he assured that all matters would be addressed in tomorrow’s press conference.
