SHAH ALAM - Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri stressed the importance of people with disabilities (PwD) registering with the Social Welfare Department (JKM).

This registration process, she explained, is crucial for the government to gather accurate data on the PwD population, enabling them to plan and develop effective support facilities and programmes.

"Previously, there have been discussions on the need for infrastructure catering to the disabled.

"Having comprehensive data will serve as evidence of the population size within this group," she said.

She made these remarks during her participation as a panelist on the ninth Town Hall programme, which aired live on Sinar's Facebook page yesterday.

Nancy also pointed out the benefits of obtaining a PwD card through registration, highlighting advantages such as access to hospital services and free public transport.

"There are numerous benefits available upon registration," she noted.

While acknowledging the possibility of PwD individuals registering with associations or other organisations, Nancy urged them not to overlook the importance of registering with JKM.
