'Spirit' of Rukun Negara will continue to live on

SHAH ALAM – The country has lost a very precious gem that contributed a lot to the development of Malaysia.
The passing of a figure who is famous for the enactment of the principles in the country last Friday has brought a sense of grief to the country.
Dr Agoes Salim, who was an economic expert and the first Nation Unity Ministry’s Secretary General, breathed his last in Hospital Ampang Puteri due to old age.
Agoes, who would have turned 90 years next year was an important individual in producing and enacting the national philosophy manuscript and the country's principles (Rukun Negara).
Besides Rukun Negara, he was also one of the individuals who helped in drafting the New Economic Policy.
Rukun Negara has become a guide in life for the whole country in building a national spirit of unity.
The country is indebted to Agoes for the formulation of Rukun Negara doctrines, which have been the basis of the formation of a united multiracial country.
This message of condolence is not only addressed to the family of Agoes but rather to the entire country, which has lost a gem who played an important role in the unity of the country.
Hopefully, all his services and contributions will continue to live throughout the ages to come because of the noble manuscripts he produced.
Prayers and hopes for the spirit of Agoes to rest in peace.
Regardless, the 'spirit' of the Rukun Negara will always live and be restored in its strength and impact on the country.
The 'spirit' of the Rukun Negara became a guide for every Malaysian, especially during the early phase of the philosophy during the early 70s and 80s.
They are among the ingredients for harmony and solidarity among the people in the country that are hoped to remain until today and so on.
This is the spirit and appreciation that need to be restored to ensure that the 'spirit' of Rukun Negara does not cease to exist and becomes buried deep within the souls of Malaysians, especially in the younger generation.
