Data is the lifeblood of the digital economy and serves as the fuel that powers emerging technologies like AI. Today, data is being captured and stored in more diverse locations than ever before, and in a greater variety of formats and structure.

The increasing sophistication of cyber threats, coupled with the explosive growth of data volumes, presents an unprecedented challenge to organisations in APAC as they strive to maintain their data’s integrity, availability, and security— all while ensuring compliance with complex local data protection laws.

The rise of hybrid environments can present even greater and more unique challenges for data protection. Legacy data protection appliances may not be capable of looking across entire on-prem and cloud-based set-ups.

Legacy data protection workflows may also be more vulnerable to attack, as they lack the scale to meet the performance and capacity demands of hybrid environments.

Hitachi Vantara’s recent Modern Data Infrastructure Dynamics report found that 60 per cent of companies in Asia feel overwhelmed by the data deluge, and almost three-quarters are concerned with infrastructure scalability.
