SHAH ALAM: Veteran actor, comedian and host Jaafar Onn, 73, has passed away earlier today at the Sultan Idris Shah Serdang Hospital.

The 73-year-old artiste succumbed to health complications, as confirmed by his stepson, Mohamad Hanif Hashim.

Hanif said the funeral arrangements were underway.

He added that Jaafar had been admitted to the hospital since yesterday, due to rectal bleeding.

Doctors had attempted to provide respiratory support after he became critical, however he experienced a cardiac arrest earlier this morning.

Six months ago, the veteran artiste was also hospitalised due to complications relating to his cardiac tract, which led him to be dependent on a wheelchair as health issues affected his legs as well.

He then underwent several procedures to further understand his deteriorating health condition since last year.
