He was heard saying 'no fear, no surrender' in a 46-second video.

KOTA KINABALU – Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh confirmed his detention at the Kota Kinabalu district police headquarters (IPD) this morning.

Dr Akmal, who had just arrived at Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) from Kuala Lumpur said he was detained despite being scheduled to give a statement at IPD Dang Wangi on Saturday.

"I was detained at IPD Kota Kinabalu this morning despite being scheduled to give my statement tomorrow at IPD Dang Wangi.

“Insya-Allah, I will fully cooperate and pray for everything to proceed smoothly. I will not waver in in our stance," he wrote on his Facebook on Friday.

Prior to this incident, Dr Akmal was heard saying 'no fear, no surrender', in a 46-second video which had been widely circulated, before departing in a police vehicle.

He had travelled to Sabah to participate in the Malaysia Umno Kembara Ramadan Pemuda event scheduled in Beaufort today.

Previously, Dr Akmal had been vocal in the convenience store chain KK Mart issue, after allegations that socks bearing the word 'Allah' were found sold at its Bandar Sunway outlet.
