SHAH ALAM - Endless racial and religious rhetoric can disrupt the peace and security of multicultural societies like in Malaysia.

Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (Ideas) Advocacy and Programmes Senior Manager Aira Azhari said that society needed to realise that maintaining tranquillity is not easy and is fragile.

"Various efforts need to be made to maintain this peace; otherwise, we may live with regrets.

"Forgiveness can act as a healer when old wounds are reopened; otherwise, tension will rise due to the insensitivity born out of ignorance.

"Ideas will use #MZB365 to convey Hari Raya greetings to spread the message of peace and forgiveness," she said on Sunday.

Further commenting, Aira said that Ideas is a non-profit research institute that promotes solutions to public policy challenges and focuses on three comprehensive missions.

"These missions are to advance a competitive economy, ensure trust in institutions, and promote an inclusive Malaysia.
