Police probe viral pizza receipt with words insulting Islam

The case is being investigated under Section 298 of the Penal Code.

BALIK PULAU - The police have opened an investigation paper regarding a viral social media post concerning the receipt containing words deemed insulting to Islam, allegedly issued by a pizza restaurant at Kenari Avenue in Sungai Ara here.

Barat Daya District Police chief Supt Kamarul Rizal Jenal said they received the report regarding a photo of the receipt shared on X by user @UPDATE1111, at 8.46pm.

"Initial investigation found that there was an order received (by the pizza restaurant) with words that insulted Islam on the remarks section of the order,” he said in a statement here today.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 298 of the Penal Code.

Meanwhile, Bayan Lepas assemblyman Datuk Azrul Mahathir Aziz expressed hope that the culprit involved in the case to be brought to justice.

He said he had also met with the supervisor of the restaurant where the receipt was issued as it is within his constituency. - BERNAMA
