PETALING JAYA - Putrajaya MP Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin and Beluran MP Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee defended their posts as Bersatu vice-president for the 2024-2027 term.

Bersatu Election Committee (JPP) chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azim Mohd Zabidi said another vice-president post was won by Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu who was earlier the party’s deputy president.

The three defeated another three candidates namely Selangor Bersatu deputy chief Mohd Rafiq Mohd Abdullah, Bersatu Information chief Datuk Razali Idris and Batu Kawan Bersatu head Aziss Zainal Abiddin.

"Radzi received 11,690 votes while Kiandee got 11,295 votes and Ahmad Faizal garnered 9,278 votes,” he told a media conference at Bersatu headquarters here today.

At the same time, Abdul Azim said 20 members of Bersatu Supreme Leadership Council (MPT) were elected from 80 contesting candidates.Among those elected into Bersatu MPT are Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah, Datuk Rosol Wahid, Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz, Datuk Wan Saifulruddin Wan Jan, Wan Ahmad Fahysal Wan Ahmad Kamal and Dr Afif Bahardin.

Earlier, Abdul Azim declared Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was elected as Bersatu President while Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin as Deputy President with both winning unopposed.

In addition, Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah was elected as the Permanent Chairman of Bersatu while Mohd Hanafiah Hamzah was elected as his deputy.

Abdul Azim also said a total of 169 divisions successfully convened and conducted elections and voting at the MPT level, with 74 divisions having conducted their elections while the remaining 95 divisions won unopposed for all positions.

At the same time, Abdul Azim also informed that JPP had received 31 complaints and objections within the allowed period during divisional conferences.

He said the complaints and objections received involved conference rules, election procedures, legitimacy of delegates, ballot paper issuing procedures and vote counting procedures, among others.

Meanwhile, Radzi when met after the press conference said the continuation of the mandate given to him by Bersatu was a big responsibility, especially to work together with colleagues in the party to face upcoming elections.

What is more important right now, he said, is to focus on how to raise the party so that it remains strong and is always close to the hearts of the people.

"For us, what is important is that this election has gone smoothly and orderly. What is more important is for us to look ahead, strengthen the party and ensure that we continue to be a party that is close to the hearts of the people," he said. - BERNAMA
