Chinese cashier stabbed to death at Cheras restaurant
Further investigations at the scene did not find the weapon used in the stabbing.
KUALA LUMPUR - A 49-year-old Chinese woman working as a cashier at a restaurant in a shopping mall in Cheras here was stabbed to death yesterday afternoon.
Cheras district police chief ACP Aidil Bolhassan said seven suspects, all colleagues of the victim, have been arrested to assist in the investigation into the incident, which occurred between 3 and 4pm.
"Initial investigations revealed four to five stab wounds on the victim’s body. She was confirmed dead while being transported to the hospital by ambulance,” he said in a statement today.
Aidil said further investigations at the scene did not find the weapon used in the stabbing.
He also said that police are still investigating the motive behind the murder and are actively seeking witnesses to aid in the investigation.
The victim’s body was sent to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz for a post-mortem, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
When contacted, Aidil said all seven suspects, comprising five men and two women aged 19 to 65, were detained after their statements were recorded.
"The suspects have been remanded for seven days until Dec 6," he said. - BERNAMA
