SHAH ALAM - Perikatan Nasional (PN) is confident it can gain control of three states—Pahang, Perak, and Selangor – in the upcoming 16th General Election (GE16).

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the confidence was based on the growing support for PN in these states.

"In the north, we’ve already formed the government. In the southern region, we control four states. Now in Pahang and Perak, we can see increasing support.

"As for Selangor, we only lost by a small margin in the previous election; otherwise, the Menteri Besar would have been here (Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali)," he said during a press conference after delivering his speech at Bersatu's seventh Annual General Assembly held at the Ideal Convention Centre, here, today.

Also present were Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, vice-president Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin and secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

However, Muhyiddin acknowledged the challenges ahead, given the competition.

"We are in the opposition, so we already know the difficulties. We must inspire all members.

"That is why we need to work hard. It is not impossible to succeed, but I understand it will be a challenge," he added.
