AI pioneer Sam Altman accused of horrific childhood crimes by sister
SHAH ALAM – ChatGPT creator Sam Altman's sister, Ann Altman has filed a lawsuit alleging that he subjected her to years of sexual abuse during their childhood.
The allegations are part of a broader legal action initiated in a United States District Court in Missouri, where the siblings grew up. This lawsuit represents an escalation of claims Ann has previously made on social media platforms.
Ann Altman’s Allegations
According to the Daily Mail, which shared a photo of a court document, the lawsuit states that the alleged abuse began when Ann was just three years old and Sam was 12.
It alleges that the abuse occurred "several times per week," starting with acts of oral sex and escalating to penetration. Ann claims that Sam manipulated her into believing these acts were her idea, despite her young age.
The complaint details significant impacts on her mental health, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression and a diminished ability to enjoy normal life.
The lawsuit claims that these incidents took place at the Altman family residence in Clayton, Missouri, between 1997 and 2006.
Ann is seeking a jury trial and damages exceeding $75,000, as well as additional compensation for her experiences.
Legal Context and Implications
The lawsuit was filed under Missouri state law, which permits survivors of childhood sexual abuse to file claims until the age of 31.
Ann’s attorney, Ryan J. Mahoney, stated that the lawsuit seeks justice and accountability for his client, noting that the family’s denial of the allegations was expected.
Response from Sam Altman and Family
Sam, along with his mother Connie and brothers Jack and Max, issued a joint statement denying the allegations.
They described Ann’s accusations as "deeply hurtful and entirely untrue," expressing concern for her mental health and emphasising their efforts to support her financially and emotionally over the years.
The family also stated that Ann has previously made similar accusations against other family members and has rejected conventional treatment options.

In recent years, she has supported herself financially through sex work, including operating an OnlyFans site and has relocated to Hawaii. The family has reportedly offered financial support, including a promise to buy her a house, but Ann has expressed skepticism about these offers, suggesting they were attempts to control her.
