No proposal, just a birthday celebration, Taec-yeon's agency clarifies viral Paris photos

SOUTH Korean singer and actor Ok Taec-yeon's agency has dismissed rumours that he is engaged to his long-term, non-celebrity girlfriend, saying the widely shared photos were misinterpreted.

According to Korean entertainment news portal Soompi, a representative from 51K stated that the images were not from a marriage proposal but were taken last year to celebrate his girlfriend’s birthday.

The agency expressed regret over the unauthorised leak and rapid spread of the photos across online platforms.

"He is continuing to have a good relationship with his girlfriend, as he always has.

"While we believe that he may get married someday when the timing is right, there are no immediate plans for marriage at this time," the statement read.

Speculations about Taec-yeon’s engagement first surfaced on Feb 5 after a French photographer accidentally uploaded now-deleted images of the Vincenzo star at the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Many fans initially believed that the photos captured a romantic proposal, leading to excitement and mixed reactions online.

The photos, which were originally posted on social media, quickly gained traction before being deleted.

However, fans of the 2PM member had already widely shared them, fuelling further speculation.

Taec-yeon had previously confirmed his relationship with his girlfriend in June 2020, marking his first public romance since his debut with 2PM.
