TEMERLOH – For Along, a 47-year-old public servant who prefers to remain anonymous, staying single has been a deliberate choice.

It is a choice that she embraced with confidence and contentment over the years and with a busy career, marriage had never been her priority.

“However, I do not reject the idea if the right person comes along, as long as they are suitable and my family approves,” she said.

She admitted that there had been men who proposed to her, but not all had good intentions.

“There have been men who proposed and expressed their feelings, but some were only looking to take advantage, while others were simply not mature enough,” she shared.

Now 47 years old, Along remains comfortable living alone.

As the second of six siblings, she values the freedom to spend more time with her family and friends.

Aware of the risks of living alone in old age, she took steps to prepare for the future.

“Regardless, I did not choose to stay single just for the sake of it. Fate plays a role, as do environmental factors,” she added.
