SHAH ALAM – "I was shocked when the suspect suddenly stood next to me and pointed a gun."

"The security guard ordered us all to evacuate immediately. At that moment, I had no idea what was happening," he told Sinar on Monday.

He said that he quickly escorted his family out and as they headed to the parking area, he heard a loud noise.

"Initially, I thought it was the sound of a car hitting a speed bump.

"I thought it was a usual noise and didn’t realise it was actually a gunshot," he said.

He described how the situation escalated as he saw cars sped out of the parking lot.

As his family was about to get into their car, a man suddenly appeared beside him and pointed a gun at him.

"I was stunned. The suspect fired a shot at the wall to show it was a real gun.

"We were all ordered to get into the car and the suspect sat directly behind me in the driver’s seat. I asked him to put away the gun so my children wouldn’t be frightened," he recounted.

The man added that the suspect directed him to take a specific route before exiting the vehicle by the highway.

"The suspect was in the car for about 45 minutes. Before leaving, he took the memory card from the car’s dashcam," he added.

Earlier, Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed that the Section 6 police station received information about the incident at 10.50 pm.

In the incident, a cleaner at the shopping mall was injured after being struck by gunshots fired by the suspect.

Following the incident, the police identified the suspect as a local man in his 30s with fair skin and a criminal record that includes 11 previous offences related to criminal activities and drugs.
