Ageless legendary singer Jamal Abdillah still going strong

KUALA LUMPUR - Thunderous cheers erupted in the hall of Zepp Kuala Lumpur here as soon as Datuk Jamal Abdillah appeared on stage to entertain his die-hard fans, numbering about 1,200, who attended his concert last weekend.

Malaysia’s King of Pop may be 65 years old but Jamal still looks youthful. Not only that, he still has the energy and capability to mesmerise the audience with his powerful golden voice, immersing them in his nostalgic melodies.

The veteran singer opened his two-hour show with ‘Kau Lupa Janji’, followed by ‘Perjalananku’ and ‘Kekasih Awak dan Akhir’.

He also sang ‘Gadis Melayu’, which was a phenomenal hit, as well as a medley of songs like ‘Nasib Diriku’, ‘Kema Ku Bawa’ and ‘Sendiri’.

Jamal also interacted with his fans in a casual manner and occasionally cracked jokes, drawing laughter from the crowd. He even asked if they still remembered the lyrics of his songs, creating a more intimate atmosphere and making the audience feel closer to him.

In the second half of the concert, Jamal surprised everyone by inviting his eldest son Osama Yamani to join him on stage to sing ‘Seroja’. He also invited singer Wany Hasrita for a duet performance of ‘Sandarkan Kepada Kenangan’.

Jamal, who has been in the local music industry for over four decades, also performed ‘Aku Penghibur’ and ‘Penghujung Rindu’, taking the audience back to the golden era of these timeless hits.

Jamal also sang ‘Azura’, seemingly reviving his character named Zek from the 1984 film ‘Azura’, in which he starred alongside Fauziah Ahmad Daud.

The concert’s finale became even more special for his fans when, for the first time, Jamal brought his younger children on stage, including Nor Azura Yamani, El Isaac Yamani and Iskandar Rayyan Yamani.

Overall, this concert not only met but exceeded the expectations of his loyal fans, reaffirming Jamal’s status as a legendary singer who continues to stand in a league of his own. - BERNAMA
