AEON bank upgrades mobile app with MSP protection
The initiative highlights the bank’s unwavering commitment to enhancing digital banking security and safeguarding customer data.

SHAH ALAM - AEON Bank, Malaysia’s pioneering Islamic digital bank, has strengthened its security framework by integrating the 'Mobile Security Platform (MSP)', an advanced shielding technology designed to protect its mobile app.
This initiative highlights the bank’s unwavering commitment to enhancing digital banking security and safeguarding customer data.
The MSP operates by continuously scanning for potential threats, malware, and unauthorised modifications to devices.
If a device is identified as compromised—whether through jailbreaking, rooting, runtime tampering or any other alteration that bypasses security protocols—the user will be promptly notified and access to the AEON Bank app will be temporarily restricted.
This proactive measure aims to mitigate risks such as data theft, security breaches and unauthorised access.
According to AEON Bank Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Raja Teh Maimunah Raja Abdul Aziz, customer protection is their top priority as a fully digital bank.
"Protecting our customers is AEON Bank’s foremost priority as a fully digital bank. The Mobile Security Platform (MSP) shielding technology is crucial in providing a secure and trusted digital banking experience. We want our customers to use our app with confidence and peace of mind," she said.
Importantly, AEON Bank’s MSP does not collect, process or store any personal data from customers’ devices. Instead, it employs a multi-layered security approach that includes:
1. Threat Detection and Notification: Customers will receive an in-app security alert if their device is detected as jailbroken or rooted, and access to the app will be temporarily blocked to prevent potential breaches.
2. Guided Resolution: Users can regain access by addressing the identified security threats or adjusting their device settings. For optimal security, resetting the device to its factory settings is recommended, though customers are advised to back up their data beforehand.
3. Secure Re-access: Once the issue is resolved, customers can relaunch or reinstall the AEON Bank app to continue using secure banking services.
In addition to these advanced security measures, AEON Bank encourages customers to take proactive steps to protect their accounts, such as:
- Regularly reviewing app permissions on their devices.
- Monitoring data usage for unusual spikes or unexpected charges.
- Frequently checking account balances and statements, and reporting any suspicious activity to AEON Bank’s Customer Support immediately.
By combining cutting-edge technology with customer vigilance, AEON Bank aims to provide a robust and secure digital banking experience for all its users.
