PORT DICKSON - A 17-year-old boy was found drowned after he was believed to have fallen into the sea while fishing near the Kampung Gelam Fishermen’s Jetty here yesterday.

Port Dickson Fire and Rescue Station senior operations commander Mohd Kamal Mohd Timar said the victim’s body was found at 12.28am today, about 50 metres from where he had fallen.

"The victim was pronounced dead by medical officers and his body was handed over to the police for further action,” he said in a statement.

Kamal said his team received an emergency call at 7.28pm and a rescue team from the Port Dickson Fire and Rescue Station was rushed to the scene.

The search and rescue operation involved 23 personnel, including two senior officers, assisted by the Teluk Kemang Water Rescue Team (PPDA), which monitored the shoreline.

"PPDA members searched within a 50-metre radius from the shore to find the victim, a Form Five student from a school in Lukut,” he said. - BERNAMA
