KAJANG – A married couple has been arrested to assist in the investigation of a hit-and-run and attempted murder case involving a man in Bandar Teknologi Kajang.

Kajang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof, stated that the police received a report on the incident at 4.54pm on Sunday from a 63-year-old woman.

The woman said that at about 12pm on Friday, she received a call from her 42-year-old son, who told her that he had been hit by a vehicle, leaving him injured and unable to move.

"The victim's mother then rushed to the scene and took him to the hospital for further treatment," he said in a statement on Monday.

According to Naazron, investigations found that a dashcam recording from a public vehicle captured the incident.

"The footage shows a black vehicle deliberately hitting the victim as he was stepping down from the lorry he was driving, before dragging him onto the road divider.

"The driver of the vehicle then fled the scene," he said.

Naazron added the suspects aged 73 and 65 were arrested at 11.15pm on Sunday to assist in the investigation.

"The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code and Section 279 of the Penal Code.

"The public with any information regarding this case can contact the nearest police station or the Investigating Officer, Inspector Mohd Hizwan Hamzah, at 019-6369835 to assist in the investigation," he said.
