Syahredzan, Young Syefura among leaders elected to DAP’s CEC
The national congress returning officer Desmond Tan announced that Syahredzan secured 2,065 votes, while Young Syefura received 1,943 votes.

SHAH ALAM – Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan and Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman are among the Malay leaders elected to the DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC) for the 2025-2028 term.
The national congress returning officer Desmond Tan announced that Syahredzan secured 2,065 votes, while Young Syefura received 1,943 votes.
Other Malay candidates in the race included Azaha Abdul Rani (191 votes), Sheikh ‘Umar Bagharib Ali (478 votes), Supian Zaharin (170 votes), and Tengku Zulpuri Shah Raja Puji (694 votes).
"Candidate number 54, Syahredzan, and number 70, Young Syefura, are among the 30 individuals elected to the DAP CEC.
"The DAP leaders who received the highest votes were Gobind Singh Deo (2,785), Chong Chieng Jen (2,631), and Teo Nie Ching (2,585)," he said when announcing the election results at the 18th DAP Congress, held at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) on Sunday.
The CEC election saw 65 candidates contesting for 30 spots in the committee.
Earlier, DAP National Organising Secretary Steven Sim Chee Keong stated that 4,203 delegates from 1,650 branches were eligible to vote in the election.
Those elected to the CEC will lead DAP for the 2025-2028 term and subsequently select the party’s top leadership, including the new Secretary-General.
The DAP CEC is the party’s highest decision-making body, responsible for setting its direction and policies, enforcing the party constitution, and taking necessary actions in accordance with the party’s regulations.
