World #QuranHour 2025: Surah Al-Saff calls for unity, strength in challenging times
Surah Al-Saff should serve as a guiding principle for leaders, 'umara' (rulers), 'ulama' (scholars) and the entire Muslim community.

KUALA LUMPUR - The World #QuranHour 2025 successfully gathered Muslims worldwide in reflection and recitation of Surah al-Saff, a chapter that carries a deeply meaningful message, especially in today’s context.
The event, pioneered by Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation (WUIF) founder Datuk Hussamuddin Yaacub, marked its 10th year with a strong call for unity and strength within the Muslim community.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar who was present at the event, today, highlighted the significance of this year’s theme, which focused on the concept of ‘bunyan marsus’—a solid and structured formation.
"Al-Saff means rows or ranks and in verse four of this Surah, the concept of 'bunyan marsus' is highlighted—symbolising a solid and structured formation.
“This theme is deeply meaningful, especially in today’s context, as it calls for unity and strength among Muslims," he told reporters at the World #QuranHour 2025 event held at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Mosque, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Gombak, today.

Na’im emphasised that Surah Al-Saff should serve as a guiding principle for leaders, 'umara' (rulers), 'ulama' (scholars) and the entire Muslim community.
He said the event aimed to bring people back to the Quran, instilling unity and solidarity especially during the blessed month of Ramadan.
He also pointed out the connection between the theme and the struggles faced by people in Palestine, particularly in Gaza.
"The message of 'bunyan marsus'—a strong and structured formation—serves as a powerful call for Muslims worldwide to unite in defending the rights of Palestinians and in the fight for their freedom from Zionist oppression.
“This is why unity and solidarity, inspired by Surah Al-Saff, have been chosen as the central theme for World #QuranHour 2025,” he said.
This year, World #QuranHour 2025 carried the theme 'Saving the Ummah' to emphasise the importance of unity in upholding the religion of Allah SWT.
The 10th edition of the World #QuranHour 2025 programme brought together thousands of participants through physical attendance at the main venue, live television broadcasts and online access.
Additionally, a total of 1,370 locations across the country, along with 25 locations in 19 other countries, registered for this year's event.
