TUARAN – The search and rescue (SAR) operation for a five-year-old autistic boy who went missing yesterday (Sunday) continues with the search divided into two areas — on land and in Sungai Tamparuli, Kampung Bahagia II, here.

Tuaran fire and rescue station chief Mohamad Nor Amit said the operation entered its second day, today, using boats to comb the river near the spot where the child was reported missing.

"This morning, we couldn’t widen the search area as it’s quite limited, surrounded by jungle and plantations.

"However, if there’s still no sign of the child by midday, we may consider expanding the search.

"We’ve also deployed boats today to patrol the river as part of the efforts," he said when contacted by Sinar, today.

Yesterday, the child, identified as Muhd Aniq, was reported missing after family members realised he was no longer inside the house.

A search of the surrounding area led to the discovery of his doll outside the home. The search effort was then continued with the involvement of the security team.

The K9 Detection Unit was also brought in to assist with the search, but the effort was unsuccessful. The SAR operation was briefly suspended before being resumed, today.
