Nurul Izzah for PKR No. 2? It’s about party's vision, not family name
The party needed someone like Nurul Izzah to ensure its continued growth and stability.

Support for PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar to contest the party’s deputy president post is not just because she is someone’s daughter, it is because many see her as a symbol of fresh ideas and renewal in the party.
PKR Women’s chief Fadhlina Sidek said the party needed someone like Nurul Izzah to ensure its continued growth and stability.
She said Nurul Izzah was well-qualified to take on the deputy president role to navigate PKR alongside the strength of the movement and leadership.
"I fully support Nurul Izzah as a candidate for deputy president. This reflects what the party grassroots want which is change that’s rooted in stability, continuity and loyalty.
"This isn’t about who her parents are, who she’s married to, or which faction she’s from. It’s about carrying forward the legacy of a party that needs fresh energy.
"Nurul Izzah is a young leader who rose during tough times, when PKR was building strong support on the ground.
"She’s been part of every key moment from the early reform movement, the founding of PKR, becoming the strongest opposition and now being part of the Madani Government," she said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
She said Nurul Izzah has been steadfast in addressing human rights issues, empowerment and women’s rights on an international level.
Her strong stand on issues like Palestine, poverty, women’s welfare, family and children has made her a respected and influential figure, Fadhlina added.
She said most of the party’s grassroots fully supported Nurul Izzah running for the deputy president role and believed the latter was ready to take on the responsibility.
Meanwhile, PKR Youth chief Adam Adli Abdul Halim said the party was preparing Nurul Izzah for the future to face new challenges and move beyond personalities or family names.
He added that in an increasingly complex political climate, Nurul Izzah was a figure who was not only capable and principled but also able to inspire reformist spirit among the new generation, crossing various backgrounds.
Therefore, Adam said, after making the best possible assessment and without losing respect for any party leadership, he supported the nomination of Nurul Izzah for the deputy president post.
"This party is being prepared for new times and challenges and Nurul Izzah at the forefront is a sign of our commitment to the continuity of the reformist ideals, beyond individuals and family names.
"Nurul Izzah is part of PKR's long history. Nurul Izzah is also the future of PKR," he said in a statement.
