PU Azman gets reduced sentence of 12 years in sexual assault case
He was given the reduced sentence after the High Court on Monday allowed his appeal for all sentences to run concurrently starting from 27 September 2024.

KLANG – Celebrity preacher PU Azman has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after the High Court allowed his appeal for concurrent sentencing, reducing the initial 24-year jail term handed down for two counts of sexual assault against a male teenager three years ago.
Azman, whose real name is Azman Syah Alias, was given the reduced sentence after the High Court on Monday allowed his appeal for all sentences to run concurrently starting from Sept 27, 2024.
Despite the sentence reduction, the court maintained the punishment of two strokes of the cane for the 44-year-old.
Previously, the sessions court had sentenced 44-year-old preacher Azman to 12 years imprisonment and one stroke of the rotan for each offense, with prison terms to be served consecutively.
Azman, popularly known as PU Azman, faced charges of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old boy at a homestay in Kampung Sungai Udang, Klang on February 20 and June 29, 2022.
The charges were brought under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which provides for imprisonment up to 20 years and caning upon conviction.
