7-year-old girl dies after falling from 29th floor of babysitter’s condominium
At the time of the incident, the victim’s mother was attending to another child who was under quarantine, while the father was at work.
SUBANG JAYA – A seven-year-old girl tragically died after she is believed to have fallen from the 29th floor of a condominium in Puchong on Tuesday.
Subang Jaya Deputy District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Fairus Jaafar said the department received a distress call about the incident at 12.30pm through the Subang Jaya District Control Centre.
"We received a report involving a local child who had fallen from the 29th floor of a condominium in Puchong, Subang Jaya.
"Police personnel were dispatched to the scene to verify the information and provide assistance," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
He said investigations at the scene found the victim lying on her back on the fifth-floor landing of the building.
"Investigations revealed the incident occurred at the babysitter’s home.
"At the time of the incident, the victim’s mother was attending to another child who was under quarantine, while the father was at work.
"Preliminary findings suggest the child had climbed up an ungrilled window before falling," he added.
Fairus said the investigation found no criminal elements involved in the case.
"A medical officer at the scene confirmed the victim’s death.
"The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001," he said.
Fairus added that the police have recorded a statement from the babysitter to assist with the investigation.
"The investigation paper will be completed promptly and referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further action," he said.
