Mek Yun urges Malaysians to fight back against child predators online
The social media icon was heartbroken and disgusted by the existence of men who could feel sexually attracted to children and live life as usual.

SHAH ALAM – Social media sensation Mek Yun has expressed her disappointment, disgust and anger after discovering a paedophilic group that used pictures of primary school children for sexual gratification.
Mek Yun, whose real name is Wee Yun Nee, 28, said she was heartbroken and disgusted by the existence of men who could feel sexually attracted to children and live life as usual.

“This is not a laughing matter. This is a crime. This is a disease. Too many children have become victims and are traumatised for life,” she said.
Taking to social media, Mekyun called on the public to immediately report the group, known as ‘Budak2 Sek Rendah’ on Facebook, which she described as a clear violation of human decency and Malaysian law.
Mek Yun also called on the public to report individuals with paedophilic and degenerate tendencies, urging them not to remain silent in aiding police and law enforcement authorities to curb this dangerous situation.
“We must speak up. We must fight back. Protect these children. Protect our kids. Don’t wait until it’s too late,” she said.
Mek Yun revealed that she, too, was among the victims of the 'Budak2 Sek Rendah' Facebook group.
In her recent social media post, Mek Yun urged the public to report such groups that blatantly violate the law and basic human decency.
"Do not give them any chance. Who else will protect these kids if not us?” she stressed.
Following collective action and public outcry by social media users who also reported the group's account, Mek Yun announced that the group had been removed from the Facebook platform.
However, she reminded the public that many similar groups still exist quietly, hiding behind ordinary-sounding names.
“These paedophiles are hiding in plain sight. Never assume this is just ‘weird behaviour’. This is a crime and completely unacceptable,” she said.
Mek Yun has since confirmed that she contacted the authorities directly and an investigation is now underway.
“This is not a small matter. This is about the safety of our children and the dignity of our community. If you’ve ever seen it, been a victim, or know someone, please speak up, report it, and protect one another.
"If something like this happens again, I will still speak up. Justice must be served,” she added.
Mek Yun's quick and decisive actions received the support of many netizens who also urged the authorities to take more aggressive steps towards eradicating the criminal and dangerous culture of paedophilia that is increasingly spreading on social media.
