Police seek help to locate relatives of Teacher Lo Kwan Fong
“There were members from her school who wished to claim the body, but we could not allow it."

JOHOR BAHRU - Police are currently appealing to the National Registration Department (NRD) for help in tracing the next of kin of a female teacher whose badly decomposed body was discovered at her home in Bandar Selesa Jaya, Skudai last Thursday.
Iskandar Puteri district police chief Assistant Commissioner M Kumarasan said that so far, efforts to locate the closest relatives of the deceased, Lo Kwan Fong, have been unsuccessful.

He said this step was crucial to facilitate the process of claiming the body, which was still being held at the Forensic Department of Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) in Johor Bahru.
“As of now, the deceased’s body remains at HSA and no next of kin has come forward to claim it.
“There were members from her school who wished to claim the body, but we could not allow it. The priority must go to the next of kin,” he told reporters at the Johor Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) on Wednesday.
Previously, the media reported that the body of a female teacher was discovered in her house after neighbours detected a foul odour emanated from within and lodged a report at the Nusa Bestari Police Station at around 8pm last Thursday.
Initial investigations have found that the deceased, who reportedly lived alone, was believed to have died approximately a month prior.
A post-mortem examination revealed the cause of death could not be determined due to the severely decomposed state of the body.
Elaborating on the situation, Kumarasan noted that the deceased was believed to have rarely interacted with neighbours and spent most of her time indoors.
“The house was also found to be in an unkempt state, filled with bottles and cans. The deceased was believed to seldom leave the house.
“Investigations also found no criminal elements related to the cause of death,” he stated.
