KLANG – The bodies of a woman and her three-year-old daughter were found floating in the waters near the Pulau Ketam Jetty on Wednesday.
South Klang District Deputy Police Chief, Superintendent Kamalariffin Aman Shah said the incident occurred around 7.30am when a 56-year-old local man at the jetty spotted a young child floating in the sea.

With the help of several members of the public, he attempted a rescue.
However, upon being brought to the jetty, the child was pronounced dead by personnel from the Pulau Ketam Health Clinic who arrived at the scene with policemen.
“Shortly after, the body of an adult woman was also found floating nearby.
“She too was pronounced dead by health officers once brought ashore,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Further inspection of the area led to the discovery of a bag containing identification documents belonging to both victims.
“Initial investigations identified the deceased as a 41-year-old local woman and her three-year-old daughter,” he said.
A preliminary examination by the Forensics Unit of the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters' Criminal Investigation Department found no signs of physical injury on either of the victims.
The bodies have been sent to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang for post-mortem examinations.
“The cause of the incident is still under investigation. Police have opened a sudden death report (SDR) to facilitate further inquiries,” he added.
Kamalariffin also urged anyone with information regarding the case to contact the South Klang District Police Headquarters at 03-3376 2222 or visit the nearest police station to facilitate the investigation.
