"A man got out of the car, walked towards us, and without saying a word, stabbed my brother in the chest."

SEREMBAN – A man who was stabbed to death in front of his family home in Taman Sri Pagi here on Monday had only been engaged for two weeks and was planning to get married later this year.
In the 6.50pm incident, Muhammad Amirul Rasyid Mohd Niza, 28, was stabbed in the chest with a knife by a 31-year-old man.
Tragically, the single father had planned to buy stuffs for wedding preparations on the night of the incident.
The victim’s younger brother Muhammad Amirul Hakim, 27, said he was chatting with the deceased outside their house when a car suddenly stopped nearby.
“I thought it was my brother’s friend. But a man got out of the car, walked towards us, and without saying a word, stabbed my brother in the chest.
“I immediately shouted and grabbed the suspect to stop him from escaping while cradling my brother, who was bleeding heavily,” he said when met at his home in Taman Sri Pagi on Tuesday.
He said the suspect tried to run but was caught by residents, who tied him up with a rope.
Amirul said the victim was still alive after being stabbed and only uttered the word “Allah.”
“There was so much blood and our mother fainted upon seeing his condition.
“At the time, 10 of our siblings were at home. What happened shocked all of us because it was so sudden,” he said.

He added that the victim had just returned home a few minutes earlier after taking his only child out for a walk.
Since separating from his ex-wife a few years ago, the victim’s child had been under the care of the family.
“He worked at a restaurant and stayed in workers’ quarters in Taman Lavender Height, Senawang.
“He had just gotten engaged two weeks ago and planned to marry this year. Last night, he was supposed to go out to buy stuffs for wedding preparations,” he said.
Hakim also said that the family did not know the suspect and were unsure of the motive.
“As far as I know, my brother had no enemies. We were very close and usually went everywhere together,” he said.
The body arrived at the Taman Sri Pagi surau at 2.48pm for funeral prayers before being laid to rest at the Senawang Islamic Cemetery, Forest Height.
Earlier, Seremban District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Hatta Che Din said initial investigations revealed the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding between the suspect and the victim.
“The suspect allegedly stabbed the victim in the chest with a knife, causing him to die at the scene.
“A medical officer from Tuanku Jaafar Hospital who arrived at the scene confirmed the victim’s death at 7.28 pm,” he said.
He added that the suspect was arrested with the help of the public and the knife used in the attack was seized.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code and the suspect has been remanded until Aug 18.
“The exact motive is still under investigation and we urge anyone with information to come forward,” he said.
