It was also found that the injuries to the victim’s muscles and bones were the result of manual strangulation.

SUBANG JAYA – A tragedy in Subang Jaya took a grim turn when police confirmed that a college student, found hanging from a ceiling fan in her home at USJ 2/1 last Thursday, had in fact been murdered.
Subang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said a post-mortem conducted by a Serdang Hospital pathologist found that the cause of death was bleeding around the hyoid bone in the neck.
“The pathologist also found that the injuries to the victim’s muscles and bones were the result of manual strangulation.
“As a result, the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder,” he said in a statement on Sunday.
Wan Azlan said further investigations were ongoing to gather information and determine the motive.
The victim was discovered after the Subang Jaya district police headquarters received a distress call at 11.55am.
The caller was the victim’s father, who had found his daughter hanging from a ceiling fan in the living room on the second floor of their home.
“A medical assistant who arrived at the scene later confirmed that the victim had died,” Wan Azlan added.
He urged the public not to speculate about the incident online and appealed for cooperation from anyone who may have relevant information.
“The police urge anyone with information related to the case to come forward and cooperate by contacting the Subang Jaya district control centre at 03-278627100 or investigating officer Assistant Superintendent Zainol Aazizi Abu Bakar at 013-3227632,” he said.
