Ismail Sabri, KJ not linked to son's attack – Rafizi

SHAH ALAM – Pandan MP Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has denied allegations that the attack on his son was connected to former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob or former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

He said the accusations were a malicious attempt by certain quarters to divert attention from the real issue.

“The attack on my son last week was followed by threatening messages telling me to keep quiet. The question is, who wants me to stay silent and about what issue?

“Some are trying to link it to Ismail Sabri or KJ. I have not investigated or touched on either of them. This is a malicious attempt to distract attention,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

Rafizi revealed that a week before the incident, he had met an informant regarding a scandal he was looking into.

He said after making that statement, baseless allegations began to surface against him.

“Supposedly, I was investigating a case involving Ismail Sabri related to money laundering abroad. The latest claim alleges that I was probing KJ and projects during his tenure as Health Minister.

“Both of these allegations are untrue,” he stressed.

Former economy minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli reveals that a threatening message was sent to his wife following the assault on their 12-year-old son on Aug 13.

He explained that the actual information he had received was related to a company’s transactions, but it had nothing to do with Ismail Sabri, Khairy or any other politician.

“The spread of false news is clearly intended to mislead the public and divert the focus of investigations.

“I fully support Ismail Sabri’s move to lodge a police report regarding this slander. That step is appropriate so the authorities can investigate the matter,” he said.

Previously, in a Facebook post, Rafizi shared that a man had suddenly dragged his 12-year-old son and jabbed him with a syringe while the boy was about to get into a car to leave a shopping mall in Putrajaya at 1.45pm last Wednesday.

He claimed checks showed that two men on a motorcycle had been trailing his wife’s car and he believed that those involved may have planned the attack in advance.
