SHAH ALAM - A beauty product entrepreneur, Datin Lyanaz Hassan, has alleged that a homestay worker secretly recorded her while she was showering during a recent stay, in what she described as a violation of privacy.

The incident, believed to have taken place on Tuesday, was discovered when Lyanaz realised she was being filmed with a mobile phone in the bathroom.

She immediately raised the alarm, prompting her staff to witness the suspect fleeing the scene.

Police were alerted, but the worker was initially untraceable.

Lyanaz claimed the homestay owner’s calls to the employee went unanswered, leading her to track down the man’s family.

The suspect was later brought to meet her by his parents, who allegedly pleaded for the matter not to be reported to the police.

Refusing to back down, Lyanaz insisted on pursuing legal action.

"People like this must be stopped. How many more guests will have their dignity stolen if this is ignored?” she wrote on social media, where footage of her confrontation with the worker and his family has since gone viral.

She further claimed that the worker confessed to spying and that his mobile phone contained multiple obscene videos.

"It’s unacceptable behaviour and a disgrace to society. The phone has been confiscated and the case handed to the police,” she said.

Lyanaz dismissed claims that the incident was a publicity stunt, stressing that her actions were to defend her dignity as a woman and a mother.

"I will ensure this crime of privacy intrusion and sexual harassment does not go unpunished.

"My lawyer has been engaged and I want to make sure this perpetrator is held accountable so other women do not face the same fate,” she added.

The location of the homestay was not disclosed.
