Bersatu expects GE16 next year, rallies members for political contest
Bersatu represents more than just a political organisation; it is built on principles that all members are expected to uphold, including unity, shared values, respect and an openness to differing perspectives.

PETALING JAYA – Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) expects the 16th General Election (GE16) to take place next year, potentially alongside several state elections.
Bersatu secretary-general, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali stated that this year’s Annual General Assembly (PAT) is a vital opportunity for the party to assess its on-the-ground performance and strengthen its readiness for the coming political contest.

“This involves strengthening training for our election teams across all levels and developing strategic partnerships with fellow component parties within Perikatan Nasional (PN).
"The president’s keynote address will outline the direction for facing GE16 and will also highlight key current issues, including the cost of living, the economy, the impact of US import tariffs, youth employment opportunities, Islam and social harmony,” he said during a press conference on Tuesday.
He emphasised that Bersatu represents more than just a political organisation; it is built on principles that all members are expected to uphold, including unity, shared values, respect and an openness to differing perspectives.
These qualities, Azmin said, have played a significant role in the party’s previous electoral achievements.
The 2025 Bersatu General Assembly is scheduled to take place on Sep 6 and 7 at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) in Shah Alam, with 2,555 delegates from 202 divisions across the country set to attend.
An additional 94 invited guests are also expected, including representatives from embassies, allied political parties and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is among those who have confirmed their attendance.
Azmin stated that Bersatu continues to grow as a political force with a wide national presence, highlighting the party’s 25 divisions in Sabah, 11 in Sarawak and one in the Federal Territory of Labuan.
He also announced that the party’s 9th anniversary celebration would be held on Sunday, Sept 7 at 8.30pm, also at IDCC.
