Selangor Sultan receives over RM64 million in zakat contributions to aid 350,000 beneficiaries
The significant contributions would directly benefit over 350,000 zakat recipients across Selangor through various welfare and socio-economic development programmes.

KLANG – The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah received zakat contributions totalling RM64,974,554.60, comprising business and income zakat from 13 companies and one individual.
The official handover took place during a ceremony at Istana Alam Shah in Klang recently, organised by the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS).
The contributions from 13 corporate companies and an individual were led by Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), which handed over RM28.01 million in business zakat, making it the largest corporate contributor to LZS this year.
The handover was officiated by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar.
According to LZS chief executive officer Mohd Khaidzir Shahari, the significant contributions would directly benefit over 350,000 zakat recipients across Selangor through various welfare and socio-economic development programmes.
“We deeply appreciate the commitment of corporate entities and individuals who continue to choose LZS as their primary channel for zakat payments.
“This contribution will be used to strengthen development efforts for asnaf (those entitled to zakat), while also supporting the well-being of communities across Selangor,” he said.
Also present at the event were Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) chairman, Senator Datuk Setia Salehuddin Saidin; LZS chairman Tan Sri Syed Anwar Jamalullail; and LZS deputy chairman Tan Sri Datuk Setia Ambrin Buang.

Cyberview Sdn Bhd followed with RM5.43 million, presented by chief executive officer Kamarul Ariffin. Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) contributed RM4.57 million, handed over by Chief Global Business Solutions Officer, Datuk Ir Azmi Md Yusof.
Gas Malaysia Berhad, represented by Group chief executive officer Ahmad Hashimi Abdul Manap, contributed RM3.50 million. Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad, through its chairman, Datuk Mohd Irwan Mohd Mubarak, handed over RM3.42 million.
Plus Berhad, represented by managing director Datuk Airina Nik Jaffar, contributed RM2.60 million. Proton Holdings Berhad presented RM3.19 million in zakat, while DRB-HICOM Berhad followed with RM2.45 million.
Both companies were represented by Group chief executive officer, Tan Sri Syed Faisal Albar Syed A.R. Albar.
Northport (Malaysia) Berhad contributed RM1.64 million through director Datuk Azman Shah Mohd Yusof. Maybank Islamic Berhad handed over RM1.60 million, represented by chief financial officer Malique Sidique.
Etiqa Takaful Group also contributed RM1.50 million, presented by chief executive officer Zafri Abdul Halim.
The National Farmers Organisation (Nafas) presented RM1.0 million, represented by General Manager Muhammad Faris Ariffin. Edgenta Infrastructure Services Sdn Bhd also contributed RM1.0 million, with managing director Raihana Ahmad presenting the donation.

Additionally, prominent corporate figure Datuk Kamarudin Meranun fulfilled his zakat obligation with a personal income zakat contribution of RM5.07 million.
LZS is the official body responsible for managing zakat collection and distribution in the state of Selangor. It ensures that zakat contributions from individuals and organisations are distributed fairly and efficiently to eligible recipients, particularly the asnaf.
LZS also runs various socio-economic and empowerment programmes aimed at improving the welfare and livelihoods of the needy.
