SHAH ALAM – Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said he was unsure about the cause of the commotion during the party’s Annual General Assembly (AGM) on Saturday night.

He said at the time of the incident, he was fully focused on delivering his opening speech.

“I’m not really sure. Even though I was on stage, I had to focus on my speech.

“I wasn’t clear on what exactly happened. The security team will get a full report on the matter,” he told a press conference at the Bersatu AGM held at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) Shah Alam.

Earlier, the AGM took chaotic turn when a scuffle broke out in the middle of the hall, believed to involve delegates who were unhapp and unsatisfied with the president's speech.

The party president was delivering his policy address.

Muhyiddin said he was not disturbed by the incident, even brushing it off as something “normal.”

Commenting on whether disciplinary action would be taken against those involved, he said he would wait for a full report from security before making any decisions.

“I wasn’t distracted by what happened and I take it as nothing unusual. What’s important is that the party is still moving forward as a political force, and overall, the spirit is very high.

“I was informed that the AGM sessions with Bersatu’s Wings this morning went smoothly, and tomorrow (Sunday) we will continue with debates. So, I don’t think this issue should disrupt the overall assembly,” he added.

He also denied talk of “camps” within the party being the root cause of the incident.

“Which camp? There’s only one camp. No camp A, camp B, or camp C,” he said.
