KUALA LUMPUR - Tension erupted in Kampung Sungai Baru, here, today, when Dang Wangi district police chief Assistant Commissioner Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman was injured while overseeing a power supply cut-off operation.
He sustained a bleeding facial wound while trying to disperse residents who were pushing to enter the restricted zone, where electricity was being cut from several homes.
On-duty officers instructed the residents to disperse, while the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) was also deployed to the scene.
The situation escalated when a group of residents tried to force their way past police barricades, but the attempt was contained by the authorities.

The power disconnection reportedly started around 9am, with police sealing off access points as early as 7am.
Media representatives were barred from getting close to the operation site.
The long-standing land acquisition issue in Kampung Sungai Baru, involving 67 terrace houses and 14 apartment blocks known as Pangsapuri Sungai Baru, has been ongoing since 2016.
Some residents, particularly terrace house owners, have rejected the RM400 per square foot compensation set by the Federal Territories Lands and Mines Office, a move that has fuelled dissatisfaction in the community.
