MOSCOW - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he was ready for talks with United States (US) President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in a trilateral or bilateral format without preconditions, while ruling out a meeting in Moscow, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.

In early September, Putin said that if Zelensky was ready for a meeting, he could come to Moscow. Zelensky turned down the offer, while also stating that he was ready for the meeting "in any format."

In this regard, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Putin invited Zelensky to Moscow for talks, not to accept capitulation.

"I am ready to meet with President Trump and Putin trilaterally or bilaterally ... I am ready to meet without any kind of conditions," Zelensky said in an interview with UK broadcaster Sky News released on Tuesday.

At the same time, Zelensky said that he had no intention of going to Moscow for negotiations, but was open to considering proposals for a meeting in any other country except Russia, saying that "there are a lot of propositions on the table."

Regarding the ceasefire, Zelensky said that Ukraine was ready for it. "We hope that President Trump will agree on a ceasefire. We are ready for a ceasefire," the Ukrainian president added.

Trump had previously announced plans for a meeting between Putin and Zelensky, after which a trilateral meeting could take place with Trump's participation.

During their telephone conversation, Putin and Trump expressed support for continuing direct negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations, Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov said.
